The Glass Menagerie is proud to offer one of the world's largest selections of kaleidoscopes. Featured are the works of well over 100 professional kaleidoscope artists from all over the United States as well as some international artists. The shop typically has over 300 kaleidoscopes from which to choose and the price range is $8 to $4000.

The owners of The Glass Menagerie organized and hosted the national convention of the Brewster Society of kaleidoscope artists, collectors, and dealers in 1996. Over 300 people attended the four day event in Corning, NY.

Because of our long-standing commitment to the world of kaleidoscopes, we are sometimes able to convince an artist to provide us with #1 in a series of limited edition scopes. A #1 kaleidoscope is much sought after by serious collectors due to its investment potential. Similarly, we frequently commission artists to make for us unique pieces for our discerning collectors. Recent commissions have included a seahorse design and a panda design.

Kaleidoscopes were invented in 1816 by Sir David Brewster in Scotland. The first American ones were produced by Charles Bush in Providence, Rhode Island in the late 1800's. The kaleidoscope renaissance in the United States began in the 1980's and has grown every year. Many of our customers have hundreds in their collection. We look forward to having you contact us about our unique selection.  You may view our current selection of kaleidoscopes by visiting the product gallery
